Let it Rain

Went out to ride today, it was cloudy, and 57. I was in the van driving to my start point and it began to sprinkle. I thought to myself, what would you guys do, and did the opposite. Instead of turning around and heading home to my warm dry bed where I could cuddle up with my favorite teddy bear, I unloaded the bike and hit the road.
Full of attitude and at the time dry and warm. I thought what the hell, If it ain't rainin', I ain't trainin'. I turned up the music in my ear and tuned out everything. For awhile that is. As I was about a third of the way into my ride the RAIN began. (D-lish in response to your earlier comment about meteorologists, I told you I have a HD mounted on the bike , I just tune to TWC and bingo bango wind speeds, temps, and commercials about ED.) However in this case my cold wet butt was all the info I needed to know the current conditions. I felt it was getting colder and the rain was picking up, but I had set a goal and I was not about to turn around until I hit the 14.5 mile mark. As I neared the half way point I was soaked all the way thru, and the temp continued to drop.
I pressed on to my turn around point and was delighted to find that it was still raining, cold, and now I got to enjoy the oh so adored head wind.
As I pedaled along an uninvited participant interrupted me, "hey, what the Hell are you doing out here, you moron?". I wiped the dripping rain from my nose followed by an awesome field blow and said, "wake up dude, theres no room out here for Cybil". The mental game had came into play. I grabbed the handle bars tightly, ignoring the painful tingling in my fingers and began to ride. My glasses were blurry from the rain, and my feet were numb. The road was monsoon like as rain and road spray continued to consume me. Mile after mile clicked off as I relentlessly edged myself closer to home. I lowered my gears and ran my cadence deliberately high to maintain my body temp. I rode thru hills and turns until I finally saw my destination. A sense of unbelievable satisfaction overwhelmed me as I rolled up to the van.
What doesn't kill you today will only make you stronger tomorrow. Ending Temp: 42 Wind: 12-20 Rain: lots
Distance:29.2 miles Time:1 hr 30 min
Getting out of the rain: Priceless
