Ok you lazy women, I don't believe I have heard from D-lish nor his sidekick Lmoney for quite a while. Are you losing interest or just afraid of losing to the two fat bodies that are trying to motivate the rest of you slobs. Anyway lets keep this thing rolling or I will have Tubby come and set on you after eating one of his famous burrito combos. You may have to bathe in v-8 afterwords. Just fair warning. Got on the rollers today since the wind was howling. Put in an hour of intervals before Tyler had to get involved. The Parsons ride seems to be the first event of the season for us and I hope to get everyone involved. Looks like Tubby and myself are the only ones so far to confirm our entries. L-money has no excuse that I can see but I guess we can only wait for a surprise visit since he dares not enter the blog. Drink em if you got em, peace out!!!!!!!

Playground Talk
Just wanted to let you know that your all nothing more than an insignificant pimple on my arse. Once again, who rode yesterday? Probably no one. Oh wait I did. Good news is there was no rain, great news is that it was snowing and 34 degrees out (wind chill of 16). Anyone can go out and ride when it's sunny, no wind, and 65 degrees. Oh ya, that's some smack talk---what you got?
Anyone have a baseball? What a non-sport, "I better stretch before I go stand in the outfield for 3 hrs and do nothing". The beer drinkers in the stands get more of a work out.
Coaching...What a joke, "OK guys, hit the track", while I stand here talking to another coach doing nothing but sucking on a lollipop, and reminiscing of the glory days.
Gov't work!!!! Enough said... Hurry up and wait. A bunch of passing the buck clones. Just putting their time in to get a check from all us hard working tax payers.
The only thing that matters right now (with in reason) is you and the bike-- get on it and ride.

Tubby's new bike
I got a 53" 2006 full carbon Team Raleigh. I upgraded the wheels to Kysrium ES. Groupo is DA all around. Click the link to get all the specs.
It's amazing, like going from a green VW caddy to a Ferrari. Wouldn't you agree Bikemonkey. Was Richard Simmons (and his pink tu tu)running spin class?

Met my Superior today...
Went back out today. Sore butt (don't say it), neck, and arms. Legs are doing pretty good, the rest of me is having a hard time adjusting to the riding position. Anyone have a tampon. I rode 30 miles today (did not attempt to squeeze into a medium), took me 2 hrs 6 min. I got a taste of who is really in charge out there.... MR. Hurricane velocity winds... Tomorrow I'm riding indoor only, going back out Thursday (depending on Rain).

New Bike
Went for a ride today on my new bike... It was amazing. I have some aches and pains but the ride quality was unimaginable. I rode for exactly one hour and covered 15.1 miles. I used to make the same ride on my mountain bike and generally covered 11.5 - 12 miles.. Anyone else ride today? No, thats what I thought.

- Special comment for Bikemonkey:
Hey, I think this thing actually works. Let me know if I am doing this right as
- in a Lycra wearing male dominated bicycler blog, there is no need for "virgin" references - maybe that is what showering in the military does to a guy. You might scare us from riding in a pack with you - or you could possibly be forced to the front of the pack for the full 100 miles (for our peace of mind).
I am a Blog Virgin.Bikemonkey

TRAINING
Building a good preseason workout is paramount to a late season peak. Many of the Century rides and big events take place late in summer to accomodate better weather and larger turnouts. Working into a consistant weekly schedule of riding and cross training will ensure that you don't peak too soon or over train your new svelt cycling physique. Building up to a 250 mile week is a great start to a well oiled season. Your body will react to the consistancy and you will start to feel more comfortable in the saddle. This will equate to longer rides and quicker recoveries. Intervals once or twice a week will keep the body guessing and will build strength for climbing and pushing into headwinds. Always hydrate even if you aren't thirsty. A good rule of thumb for this is one 16 oz water bottle per 1 hr of ride time in temperatures above 80 degrees. On your longer rides of 40+ miles you will also have to fuel the machine. Fig newtons, bananas, fruit, power bars, gu, and other quick carb bars will do the trick. Just keep in mind that you can lose up to 10 lbs in a century ride and burn as much as 1000 calories and even more depending on the level of fitness. I am not preaching just giving out the gouge. Just don't be like the guys in these pictures as we can see, they can use all the help they can get.
